Substrates
As the blank canvas for your label design, we offer a wide library of paper and film stocks on which we can print. And if we don’t have it, we’ll happily source it for you.
S&N Labels believes that recycling is an important aspect of a sustainable future. A label becomes an integral part of the product to which it is applied. It is thus important that the label and the package can be recycled as a single unit – so the materials need to be compatible.
Cardboard and corrugated packages with a paper label can be recycled. They can also be recycled if they have a plastic label, as long as the label’s weight does not exceed 20% of the total weight.
In most cases, plastic packages with filmic labels can be recycled.
- A PE product with a PE label may be considered recyclable
- A PP product with a PP label may be considered recyclable
In addition, as a general rule for polyolefins (PE and PP) combined:
- A PP product with a PE label may be considered recyclable
- A PE product with a PP label may be considered recyclable
- PE and PP packages cannot be recycled if PVC, PET or paper labels are attached
- PET containers should use a PP or a PE label with a wash-off adhesive
To promote recycling we recommend using the same material for the label and the package. Recyclable combinations include paper/cardboard, PE/PE and PP/PP.
